Touring Begins
The tour began with Aspen playing solo at the Silverton Gallery on the last day of January. About fifty people filled the theatre, which is a great venue with lovely sound. The community was warm and welcoming with some lovely donations of home baking which made the break great too. Local resident Mat Fry of the Cup and Saucer sang a few traditional balads to help round our the evening.
On February 5th Thistledowne joined Aspen in the Old Firehall in Rossland. This is another wonderful venue and the crowd was very supportive. It was a great kick-off to the trio's tour.

OK, I know I said we'd be posting one of these every week or so but I've been sooo busy working on the new CD (it's going great) and preparing for the "With a Little Help from my Friends" fundraiser, that this site has been on the back burner. So, now it's catch-up time! Go to Projects and download any or all of the songs we recorded live in Port Moody on the recent tour. Enjoy and please let me know what you think of them.

Well it is spring, the latest tour has come to a close and I am in Nelson busily getting ready to go into the studio to record my second CD scheduled to be released this fall.
As I promised on tour we have just posted a live track recorded at the Inlet Theater in Port Moody. This first one is, “These are the Leaves,” and I definitely think it will be on the new CD.
Just go to to my Projects Page to download it (it's working now). Enjoy. Feel free to download and share with friends. I love to get email feedback! Come back in a week or so and we will have another one posted.
Happy spring,
Aspen

Aspen Recognised in BC Legislature
Excerpt from remarks by MLA: Iain Black, Port Moody-Westwood
Official Report of
DEBATES OF THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY
I want to read for you something, because one of the four e-mails I've received on this topic, which have come from the different arts groups around the province who so passionately and articulately presented…. I've had thank-you letters. It's a rarity in this business to get thank-you letters, but I happened to get about three or four thank-you letters from some of the arts communities around the province who participated in the hearings, who knew of my personal passion for the arts and culture community and who followed up and said thank you.
None articulate it better than a woman who presented to us in Nelson. By happy coincidence, she also happens to be featured in the Port Moody Festival of the Arts this week. It's just wonderful to see the small-world element of this come together.
This woman's name is Aspen Switzer . . .

North by Northwest
There's so much going on and since the tour started I almost never have access to the Internet. last things first: Sheryl MacKay from CBC's North by Northwest contacted me to do an interview for this weeks show which we did today. It will air from just before 8:30 to 9:00 Saturday April 12th - the day of my Nelson concert. It includes us playing some songs live in their studio.
